Legislator Josh Lafazan, at 23 years of age, became Nassau County’s youngest-ever legislator upon his election to the Nassau County Legislature in November of 2017. He is currently serving his second term, where he represents Nassau’s 18th Legislative District.
Josh graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Management in May 2017, and from the Cornell University ILR School with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations in May 2016.
Previously, in May 2012, at the age of 18, Josh became one of the youngest elected officials in the history of New York State when he was elected to the Syosset School Board of Education. Josh was elected with 82% of the vote one month before he graduated from Syosset High School, and was re-elected by his constituents in 2015. During his time on the school board, Josh successfully fought for an unprecedented increase in transparency and openness of all school district functions.
Josh’s dedication to community service began before he ran for the school board. In 2011, Josh became the Founder & CEO of Safe Ride Syosset, a community outreach program dedicated to ensuring that no Syosset teenager gets behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated, or is the passenger in a car with a drunk driver. Josh and his volunteers safely drove home over 350 students in 2012, and there was not a single teenage drinking and driving accident in Syosset on the nights Safe Ride was operating.
Josh has made fighting the heroin and opioid epidemic his top legislative priority. Since 2013, Josh has served on both the Board of Directors of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), in addition to the Nassau County Heroin Prevention Task Force, where he was appointed by the office of Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice.
In 2012, Josh was named to the Long Island Press’ Power List of the 50 Most Influential People on Long Island. In 2014, he received the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences Educators’ Voice Award for School Board Member of the Year. In 2016, Josh was named a recipient of the New York State School Boards Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Ghazala Hashmi is an experienced educator and advocate who has spent nearly 30 years working within Virginia’s college and university system. She most recently served as the Founding

He also completed Senior High School (Sixth Form) at the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (Presec) – Legon in Accra in 1987. Aruneesh Salhotra (a technologist generalist) through his 20+ years of technology experience has been fortunate to have a comprehensive experience ranging from Development, Architecture, Technical Sales, Consulting, Cloud Computing, Containers, DevOps, Project & Program management. Aruneesh holds an Undergrad in Mathematics and Masters in Computer Science from University of Delhi, India.
He is also strong believer in recycling and reduce our plastic footprint. Statistically speaking, this has resulted in saving over 15000 plastic bags within his household over the course of past 14 years.
He believes in education and giving back. For past 3 years, he has been volunteering in Read Ahead (reading-based mentoring program for elementary school students. Volunteers from our corporate and community partners are matched with a student for the school year to read and spend time together during the students’ lunch hour each week.)

Stefana Muller is an award winning, senior-level executive with over 20 years’ experience in technology, software development, and product management. She currently leads Technical Product Management at Oscar Health working to refactor healthcare to build richer connections and take the best care of members.
Stefana is a proven DevOps expert who specializes in Agile software development. Prior to Oscar Health, she worked at cloud consultancy, 2nd Watch where she helped large Enterprises migrate to, manage and transform their applications in Azure, AWS and Google cloud. Stefana was the Vice President at early-stage, venture-backed startup, Opsani. There she focused on applying artificial intelligence (AI) to public cloud workloads to enable continuous and autonomous application performance optimization.
Stefana spent 16 years with CA Technologies running software product lines in security, cloud, agile development and testing technologies. She’s managed global teams and driven multi-million dollar product lines to success through her ability to connect with her customers while remaining focused on their success.
Stefana is also the Founder and President of Long Island Women in Tech® (http://liwomenintech.com), a non-profit organization with over 600 members that focuses on offering local networking opportunities, mentoring women in their tech careers, and expanding technology education. Mrs. Muller is a tireless advocate of building computer science into every classroom and curriculum for pre-K to 12 students. As a volunteer with Hour of Code, she has taught over 1500 students across Long Island the basics of computer programming. To keep children thriving in tech, Stefana mentors young girls through the Technovation Challenge, coaches Robotics and Coding Clubs with Wonder Workshop and shares her technology and programming career path with high-school students as an industry advisory board member at multiple school districts on Long Island.
On a personal note, Stefana lives in New York with her husband, 2 daughters and their dog Winston where they enjoy SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), soccer, running track, and flying their quad-copter.

In his current role as the Director of IT Operations and Corporate Products for JetBlue Airways, David leads a team of diverse IT professionals focused on managing the product portfolio for mission critical applications, systems and platforms across Airline and Corporate Operations. David prides himself on his energetic and empathetic leadership style. He strives to create a fun, respectful and collaborative workspace for his team to develop solutions that consistently exceed our operating groups and customer expectations. Prior to joining JetBlue in 2009, David worked for Merrill Lynch for 21 years holding various positions across Call Center Technology and IT Project Management Office. Throughout his entire career, David is fueled with a passion for developing talent and giving back to his community. He continues to work with Company Diversity and Cultural Resource Groups, Mentorship Programs, and volunteers his time with KABOOM, local food banks and NJ Special Olympics.
- Taimoor DarTaimoor DarBased out of Silicon Valley in San Francisco, California, Taimoor started his career in tech when he co-founded Orange Chef, a food-tech company, with friends. He was Head of Customer Experience at Orange Chef and oversaw the full spectrum of customer experience, including user, product and logistics support, retail/in-store marketing, packaging, brand management, and online marketing, through founding, growth, and acquisition by Yummly (another food-tech company). At Yummly, Taimoor works on creating, fostering, and managing a growing community of 30+ million users and 30+ thousands brands through platform dynamics, social strategy, influencer marketing, user support, content, e-commerce and partnerships. Yummly was acquired by Whirlpool Corporation, the world's biggest appliance manufacturer. Taimoor received his Bachelor's in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Minnesota in a self-directed degree program that combined the School of Journalism and Mass Communication along with the Carlson School of Management.
